Overview

Day 01 :

Arrival in Addis Ababa – Fly to Lalibela

Arrive in Addis Ababa and take a domestic flight to Lalibela.
Visit the first group of rock-hewn churches, including Bete Medhane Alem, Bete Maryam, and Bete Golgotha.
Explore the second group of churches, including the iconic Bete Giyorgis.
Overnight stay in Lalibela.

Day 02 :

Lalibela – Fly to Mekele & Drive to Erta Ale

Morning flight from Lalibela to Mekele.
Drive to Erta Ale (approx. 6-7 hours) through Afar villages and desert landscapes.
Evening hike to the crater of Erta Ale, an active volcano with a mesmerizing lava lake.
Overnight camping at the volcano rim.

Day 03 :

Erta Ale – Drive to Hamed Ela

Early morning descent from Erta Ale and breakfast at base camp.
Drive towards Hamed Ela, passing through dramatic desert scenery.
Visit Lake Afdera, a remote saltwater lake in the Afar region.
Overnight camping in Hamed Ela.

Day 04 :

Hamed Ela – Explore Dallol & Salt Flats

Visit Dallol, known for its vibrant sulfur springs, salt formations, and acid pools.
Witness the traditional salt mining process at the vast salt flats of the Danakil Depression.
Enjoy the breathtaking views of camel caravans transporting salt.
Return to Mekele for an overnight stay in a hotel.
