How fit do I need to be to do this trek?

Annapurna Base Camp is a Grade B or a moderately difficult trekking route. So any fit person can do this trek, even if you do not have any previous experience. You should be aware of what to expect and mentally prepare for it. Then, as long as you will too, you can.

You will journey through the stunning landscapes of Arbaminch, visit the fascinating tribes of the Omo Valley, and experience a unique cultural immersion with people whose traditions have remained unchanged for centuries. This tour offers breathtaking scenery, wildlife, and encounters with the rich cultural heritage of Ethiopia.

Day 1 :

Arrival in Arbaminch – Dorze Village Visit

Morning flight or drive from Addis Ababa to Arbaminch.
Drive to the highland village of Dorze, known for its beehive-shaped huts and traditional weaving.
Experience Dorze culture, including their unique way of making bread from the enset (false banana) plant.
Enjoy panoramic views over Lake Abaya and Lake Chamo.
Overnight stay in Arbaminch.

Day 2 :

Lake Chamo Boat Trip – Drive to Jinka

Take a morning boat trip on Lake Chamo to see crocodiles, hippos, and a variety of birds.
Depart for Jinka, passing through scenic landscapes and small villages.
Stop at the Konso Cultural Landscape, a UNESCO World Heritage site, known for its terraced farming and traditional wooden statues.
Arrive in Jinka, the gateway to the Omo Valley tribes.
Overnight stay in Jinka.

Day 3 :

Mursi Tribe Visit – Drive to Turmi

Early morning drive to Mago National Park to visit the Mursi tribe, famous for the lip plates worn by women and the body scarification practiced by men.
Learn about their traditions and way of life.
Continue the journey to Turmi, home of the Hamer tribe.
If it’s market day, visit a local tribal market where different ethnic groups gather to trade.
Overnight stay in Turmi.

Day 4 :

Hamer & Dassanech Tribes Exploration

Morning visit to the Hamer tribe, known for their body decorations, ochre-painted hair, and the famous bull-jumping ceremony (if available).
Drive to Omorate, near the Kenya border, to visit the Dassanech tribe. Cross the Omo River by canoe to reach their village.
Return to Turmi and enjoy an evening of traditional Evangadi dance with the Hamer people.
Overnight stay in Turmi.
